Le Bonnet began in Amsterdam in 2015, when Matthieu Jansen ordered the first samples from the Scottish mill behind his favourite beanie. Vasco de Vries joined him soon afterwards, and together they built the brand. Today, Le Bonnet designs wool beanies, scarves, bandanas, sweaters, and accessories in Amsterdam, with most of the knitwear made in Scotland.
Most Le Bonnet knitwear, including beanies, scarves, bandanas, sweaters, and gloves, is made in Scotland. The wool for the core collection is spun in England before it is knitted and finished in Scotland. Caps are made from cotton in Portugal.
For the core beanie line, the wool is spun in England and then knitted and finished at a Scottish mill with around 180 years of knitwear-making history. Each beanie passes through 14 pairs of hands before it leaves the mill.

Choose the Classic Beanie for the original lightweight ribbed style, the Logo Beanie for a chunkier rib and cuff logo, or Le Grand Bonnet for a heavier knit with extra length and warmth. The Cashmere Beanie is thinner and softer, while Red Line uses recycled cashmere and ultrafine merino.
The Classic Beanie has Le Bonnet’s original fine rib and a lighter everyday feel. The Logo Beanie has a chunkier knit, a longer 33 cm shape, and an embroidered logo at the cuff. Both are one-size styles made in Scotland.
Le Grand Bonnet is the warmest option in the current beanie collection. Its heavier knit and extra length create a double fold over the ears, giving it more coverage than the Classic Beanie.
The feel depends on the fibre and finish of each style. The core collection uses lambswool with Caregora-certified fibre; other styles use merino, cashmere, or recycled cashmere blends. Each product page lists the exact composition so you can choose the feel you prefer.
The Classic Beanie is available in 60 colours. The wider collection uses the same broad colour philosophy, although the number of shades varies by style and availability.
Materials vary by style. The Classic Beanie, Classic Scarf, and Bandana use 75% lambswool and 25% Caregora-certified fibre. Sweaters use 100% Shetland wool, gloves 100% merino wool, and caps 100% cotton. Check each product page for the exact composition.
Caregora is a quality-selected, certified angora fibre produced under defined animal-welfare and shearing standards. Le Bonnet uses Caregora-certified fibre in several core beanies, the Classic Scarf, and Bandana. The certification provides traceability information for the fibre in those products.
Biodegradability depends on the product’s exact fibre composition. Le Bonnet’s Caregora-certified core products are described as 100% biodegradable. For other styles, check the material and environmental information on the individual product page.
Le Bonnet chooses natural fibres for qualities such as warmth, softness, breathability, and durability. Wool is also renewable because sheep regrow their fleece. The fibre is selected for the purpose of each style rather than using one material across the whole collection.
Follow the care label for each style. Core lambswool beanies, scarves, and bandanas are dry-clean only; do not hand- or machine-wash them. Between cleans, air them flat after wear and store them clean, dry, and folded. Remove light pilling gently with a wool comb.
Hand wash Le Bonnet sweaters in cold water, reshape them gently, and lay them flat to dry. Do not tumble dry. Follow the care label for the most specific instructions.

Wool may pill lightly where the fabric rubs, especially when it is new. This usually reduces over time. Remove small pills gently with a wool comb and avoid pulling them by hand.
There is no fixed lifespan, but Le Bonnet beanies are designed to be worn for years rather than one season. How long a beanie lasts depends on wear, storage, and care. Following the care label and removing occasional pilling gently will help keep it in good condition.
Le Bonnet builds around core shapes that remain in the collection instead of replacing them every season. Colours and selected styles can change, but the central products are designed to be replenished and worn over time. This approach is intended to limit unnecessary seasonal stock and keep products relevant for longer.
The Classic Beanie comes in one size and stretches naturally to fit most head sizes. Its flat dimensions are 27.5 × 22 cm. Check the product page for the measurements of other styles.

Shipping is free to the Benelux, Germany, Austria, and France. For other EU destinations, it is free on orders over €100 and costs €4.95 below that amount. Worldwide shipping is available at checkout.
